Allied expands LCD Display solutions capabilities; Mouser teams up to provide USB Type C solutions for wide range of end-use applications.

In recent supply chains news, top distributors Allied Electronics and Mouser Electronics announced new partnerships aimed at expanding their product and service offerings to engineering customers.

Allied will offer products from Focus Display Solutions, an engineer-based LCD company. Categories include multi-interface color TFT modules, low-power LCDs, touch-panel technology, low-cost/min-stock TFTs, and character and graphic displays for new project designs. The distributor will launch a new LCD Selector tool on its website next month to support the partnership; the tool will help LCD designers and engineers select the correct LCD technology for their new designs, the companies said.

In other news, Mouser Electronics announced a new partnership with component makers Fairchild Semiconductor, Littlefuse, and Amphenol Commercial to offer designers the building blocks of a USB Type-C solution, a technology that provides a multifunction, single-cable solution for audio/video, data, and power. Applications range from laptops and smartphones to flash drives and video systems.

The offering includes products in the Fairchild USB Type-C portfolio, Littlefuse’s USB 3.1 Type-C circuit protection devices, and Amphenol Commercial USB 3.1 Type-C connectors.

Mouse and Grant Imahara recently launched its newest Empowering Innovation Together series, focused on Power.

Mouser also announced this month its newest Empowering Innovation Together series with celebrity engineer Grant Imahara. The 2016 Power Series kicks off with Power and the Future Supercapacitor. The series taps into the knowledge of influential people in power management and storage, including scientists from UCLA and power technology companies Infineon and TDK.

“With ever-changing energy efficiency regulations, increasing popularity of electric vehicles and waves of new battery-powered technology, power management is quickly becoming an important part of our lives,” Imahara said in launching the new series. “With insights from innovators in power technology, this new series is a perfect start to the Empowering Innovation Together program for 2016.”
