Members of the Electronic Components Industry Association met in Chicago this week for their annual Executive Conference. The meeting brings together manufacturers, distributors, and manufacturers’ representatives from the electronic components industry for presentations, workshops, and networking about the economy, industry trends, and other issues shaping the electronics supply chain.
There was record attendance at this year’s conference compared to recent years, with roughly 360 attendees, according to ECIA representatives.
The association honored industry leaders with Distinguished Service Awards on the last day of the conference, recognizing executives from Digi-Key, Mouser Electronics, Phoenix Contact, and others for their commitment to the association and the industry. This year’s honorees included:

- Dave Doherty, Digi-Key
- Perry Fox, Tonar Industries;
- Greg Jerrehian, Phoenix Contact
- Hayne Shumate, Mouser Electronics
- Mike Swenson, Mel Foster Company
- Bob Willis, ECA and ECIA
In bestowing the awards, ECIA board chairman Blair Haas, of Bud Industries, referred to the winners as key industry leaders who “really make our association the relevant and world-class association that it is.”
